Adam Zampa is disappointed after being dropped from the Test team – SBB Times

Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa is quite disappointed to have been dropped from Australia’s Test squad for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy against India. There is no denying the fact that the leg-spinner has good enough credentials to make it into the team, however, with Mitchell Swepson overtaking the former ahead of the series.

After being dropped from the team, Zampa was disappointed to be ignored for the series in the Asian subcontinent. He also said that he was quite ‘excited’ about touring India and making a mark for the side.

During a recent chat with ESPN Cricinfo, Adam Zampa said, “I am very disappointed. I would have loved to be on it. I don’t know what lies ahead for me now, with the next subcontinent tour two and a half years away. I thought this would be my opportunity with the way I’m going, especially internationally. I was really excited about the potential on this tour, give it a crack.

He further explained, “The message was my bowling style which could be useful over there. Possibly a last minute change of mind. I got the same message six weeks ago – that this was going to be a great opportunity – but now I’m not [going] I am very flat about it and it is time to move on.

Despite receiving a snub in Test cricket, the spinner has had decent numbers when it comes to limited overs cricket. Zampa has taken 127 wickets in 76 ODIs and 82 wickets in 72 T20 Internationals at an average of 28.66. He further said that he will not close the doors on the longest format of the game just yet but will reconsider the opportunities.

Elaborating on this, Adam Zampa said, “I don’t know what red-ball cricket has in store for me. Will reconsider further only through this Big Bash. I am not going to close the doors completely for red ball cricket. Life is always about balance and I’ve got a family and these white-ball tours and World Cups coming up so I have to try and think what’s best for my body, me, my family.

The first match of the four-match series between Australia and India will be played at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur.
