Ajay Jadeja explains that India’s T20 team needs more all-rounders – SBB Times

Under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, Team India maintained its dominance in the T20 series against Sri Lanka. Charismatic batsman Suryakumar Yadav played another match-winning knock (112* from 51 balls) in the third match of the series, helping the Men in Blue win their first bilateral series of the year. With this, Pandya has yet to suffer a series loss as India captain and is one of the favorites to replace Rohit Sharma as skipper in the shortest format of the game.

However, former Indian cricketer, Ajay Jadeja believes that Pandya and the entire team management should include more all-rounders in T20 cricket. Jadeja highlighted that former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni was a champion in picking a right playing XI and India should once again use the same strategy by bringing in more all-rounders.

During a recent interaction with Cricbuzz, Ajay Jadeja said, “If I have five bowlers and I am playing, you know exactly, either I will bowl X, Y, or Z. So, you can bowl to the opposition.” But if I have seven-eight bowlers who can bowl at different phases. How does the opposition plan against you? So, you run the game. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the champion at it.

He further added, “Aise din aayenge when Ravindra [Jadeja] Didn’t bowl a single ball. Says, if you put all four (Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Akshar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja), you can play all four. what’s wrong with that? Because they all can bat very well.”

The former cricketer also spoke about the adversities of playing too many all-rounders. This 51-year-old player said that if Team India uses this strategy, then its bowling may look a bit weak.

Ajay Jadeja further added, “It is just a wild thought. You can also add another all-rounder, like a bowling all-rounder, someone like Ashwin. The problem is you still keep the top five-six batsmen, then add these guys as all-rounders and the bowling is a bit weak.”
