Brett Lee said Arshdeep Singh bowled a series of no balls because he completely lost it
Brett Lee shares his thoughts on how Arshdeep Singh bowled a no ball in the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka at the MCA Stadium in Pune on January 5. Arshdeep has been one of the most promising bowlers for India in the T20I circuit recently and has been crucial for the team in the absence of mainstay Jasprit Bumrah.
Being an essential part of the bowling force, he was often the bowler of choice for the team whenever wickets were required during the T20 World Cup 2022. Since the start of 2023, he has not been able to find the form he is known for and his line and length have been inconsistent.
During the second T20 match against Sri Lanka earlier this month, he bowled a number of no-balls, which in turn shifted the momentum of the match in Sri Lanka’s favour, and was crucial in terms of the margin of victory in the end as came to Sri Lanka. Out on top for 16 runs.

Talking more about the incident, the former Australia fast bowler said, “I saw Arshdeep Singh of India completely lost in that T20 match against Sri Lanka a few days back. He bowled no ball after no ball. Ball bowled. 5 no balls in that game. Will be a tough pill to swallow for him. He bowled only two overs and conceded 37 runs. And he was coming back from injury.”
He further said, “He overstepped three times in a row in his second over. Sometimes a bowler coming back from injury may lose his rhythm because he is trying too hard. They lose their shape and speed. It is difficult because you want to fulfill the dream of taking wickets and keeping the captain happy.

The former fast bowler concluded by saying, “The no ball is the biggest enemy of the bowler. Nothing costs a bowler more mental anguish and embarrassment than a no ball because not only do you have to bowl an extra ball, but you also give the batsman the license to do whatever he/she wants. It is like stabbing the bowler in the heart. Rhythm is a funny thing. A bowler can do magic if he has it but once that rhythm is lost it makes you helpless and helpless.”
