India opener Shubman Gill was one of the star players for India in the third ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday, January 16, at the Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum. He scored his second ODI century and scored 116 runs in 97 balls with the help of 14 fours and two sixes. However, his stay in the middle came to an end soon after he was dismissed by Kasun Rajita in the 34th over of the Indian innings. And, Gill said that he missed out on a chance to score a big one on a beautiful batting track. Trivandrum.
“It was disappointing when I got out in the first ODI. I was looking forward to a big performance in that match, but unfortunately I couldn’t do it. Even in Kolkata, we didn’t have many runs to score. I was disappointed even after getting out in that match. So, after starting I wanted to do something big. Even in this game, I felt I left a few runs there and could have gone deeper,” Shubman Gill was quoted as saying in a video uploaded on the BCCI website.

After the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli also added 131 runs in 18.2 overs for the second wicket.

“When I was batting, you told me that this is my time to score big. After you came in, you changed the rhythm. I was keeping a lot of things in mind,” Shubman Gill further said.

However, after Gill’s dismissal, Virat Kohli scored a century off 85 balls and remained unbeaten on 166 off 110 balls. And, later, Team India won the match by 317 runs after bowling out Sri Lanka for 73 runs in 22 overs.
