The brawl broke out hours before the first match between Gujarat Giants (GG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). GG had announced that Australian all-rounder Kim Garth would replace flamboyant batsman Deandra Dottin due to injury. However, Dottin surprised everyone by revealing on social media that he is fit and healthy.

However, in response to a ‘get well soon’ message on Instagram, he wrote, “Get well soon from what may I ask?” She also tweeted that she was recovering from nothing but an anointing of the Holy Spirit, and she also replied to all messages.

Notably, DeAndra Dottin was bought by GG for Rs. 60 lakhs in last month’s WPL auction, and Delhi Capitals (DC) have also shown interest in buying him. Dottin had entered the auction at a base price of Rs 5.5 crore. 40 lakhs but then the signing of Garth, an Australian all-rounder by GG also added to their mostly Aussie core. The team is being led by none other than Australia’s star opening batsman Beth Mooney and their head coach is former Australian skipper Rachel Hayes. Indian cricket legend Mithali Raj is also her mentor.

The Gujarat Giants squad includes Australian all-rounder Ashley Gardner, who along with Nat Silver is one of the joint second most expensive players in the Women’s Premier League. Among others, he also has Anna Sutherland and Georgia Wareham. Indian all-rounder Sneh Rana is their vice-captain, while Harleen Deol is among the current Indian international stars in their squad.

Gujarat Giants: Ash Gardner, Sneh Rana, Beth Mooney, Georgia Wareham, Annabel Sutherland, Sophia Dunkley, Deandra Dottin, Hurley Gala, Sushma Verma, Tanuja Kanwar, Harleen Deol, Ashwini Kumari, S Meghna, Manasi Joshi, D Hemlata, Monica Patel, Parunika Sisodia Shabnam Shakeel
