The ultimate compliment for a batsman is when one of the greatest players of all time compares the player to legends like Vivian Richards or Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli. These players have created a lot of records in their illustrious careers and so does Suryakumar Yadav, believes legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, who called the India batsman a ‘once in a century’ cricketer.

Kapil’s comments came soon after Suryakumar played another flamboyant knock of 112 off 51 balls against Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I match of the series at the SCA Stadium, Rajkot. The India No.4 helped the team post a mammoth score of 228 for five before the bowlers bundled out the visitors for just 137 runs.

During a recent interaction with ABP News, the 1983 World Cup-winning skipper was completely at a loss for words on Suryakumar’s knock and compared the batting to legends like Sachin, Richards, Kohli and Ricky Ponting.

Elaborating on this, Kapil Dev said, ‘When we see Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, we feel that one day there will be a player who will make us think that he is also a part of that list. Is. And the kind of cricket he plays, he hits one shot over lap fine leg, then that scares the bowler because he can stand up and hit mid-on and mid-wicket for sixes.

He further said, ‘That is why it is difficult for the bowlers because he is able to choose line and length continuously. I have seen great batsmen like De Villiers, Vivian Richards, Sachin, Virat and Ricky Ponting but very few of them can hit the ball with such precision. Salute to Suryakumar Yadav. Players like this come once in a century.”
