Rishabh Pant should be in DC’s dugout despite Ricky Ponting being unfit
Former Australian skipper, Ricky Ponting has expressed admiration for Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper, Rishabh Pant, who is currently recovering from a horrific car accident on December 30. Seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
During a recent chat on The ICC Review, Ricky Ponting said, “I absolutely love the guy, I told him over the phone over the last few days. It was a terrible time, really scary for everyone Had time, let him be alone. Everyone who knows him loves him – he’s a truly infectious young man who still has the world at his feet. So we hope he can get back to playing as soon as possible Is.

Rishabh Pant witnessed a horrific car accident on 30th December and suffered several serious injuries. However, he is recovering well and is expected to return to the field in the near future. While Pant’s return to cricket remains uncertain, his participation in this season’s IPL has not been completely ruled out.
However, it is highly unlikely that DC skipper, Rishabh Pant will play for the IPL franchise in 2023, with the head coach already looking at other options to compensate for the loss of their star player.
Talking about the same, Ricky Ponting said, “You can’t replace those guys, it’s that simple. They don’t grow on trees, players love that. We have to look – and we already are – for a wicketkeeper-batsman, a replacement to come into the team.
If Pant is healthy enough, a key role will still be available with the Capitals owing to Ponting’s love and respect for his captain.

Speaking about the same, Ricky Ponting said, “I want him to sit next to me in the dugout every day of the week. Even if he is not really physically fit to play, we would still love to have him. He’s sort of the cultural leader around the group, being the captain, and that attitude and infectious smile. If he’s able to actually travel and be around the team, I want him sitting next to me in the dugout every day of the week.”
