Team India will take on Sri Lanka in the first match of the three-match ODI series at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Indian captain Rohit Sharma appeared in full form in his return match on Tuesday, playing an innings of 83 runs in 67 balls of captaincy. India have dominated proceedings in the first ODI so far, scoring 373 in the opening game of the series.
Earlier in the game Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and later asked the hosts to bat first due to the definite possibility of dew. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both scored half-centuries, while Virat Kohli scored a brilliant hundred to help the team register a score of 370+.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman were on fire in the powerplay overs and both scored half-centuries and added 143 runs in 20 overs for the first wicket. Gill got out after scoring 70 runs in 60 balls with the help of 11 fours, while Rohit Sharma completed his half-century with the help of 9 fours and 3 sixes.
Dasun Shanaka got Shubman Gill lbw while Rohit Sharma became the first ODI victim of Dilshan Madushanka, who is making his debut for Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, when Rohit Sharma reached his fifty, he looked up at the sky and uttered a few words while pointing his bat towards the sky. Many fans claimed it was for their pet dog who unfortunately breathed his last on the eve of the game.

On the other hand, Rohit’s wife Ritika had shared a post on Instagram sharing the sad news of the passing away of their pet. It had pictures of the dog along with family members including Rohit who was hugging the dog.
He wrote: “Yesterday was the hardest day of our lives so far. We said goodbye to the love of our life. You have been the best furbaby ever. My first love, my first child, the softest furball ever. until we meet again. There will always be a little bit of magic in our lives.”
