After Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant hundred against Sri Lanka in the series decider against Sri Lanka, social media was flooded with congratulatory messages for him. His unbeaten knock of 112* off 51 balls helped India win the match by a huge margin of 91 runs, but amidst all the wishes, India legend, Virat Kohli’s message for the 32-year-old batsman was special.
Courtesy a century from Suryakumar, India managed to reach a total of 228/5 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) Stadium in Rajkot. It was an important game for both teams as the series was tied 1–1 after the Islanders won the second game. But Suryakumar’s effort with the bat and a brilliant comeback from the bowlers helped India clinch the series 2-1.

After Suryakumar’s knock in the first innings, Virat Kohli wasted no time and shared a picture of the batsman in his stories to congratulate him on his official Instagram. Kohli tagged Surya in the story, and added fire and clapping emojis. BCCI shared a video of Suryakumar checking his Instagram after the match, where he was seen replying to Kohli’s story.
Seeing Kohli’s story, Surya said, “Hey baba, look who posted the story!” And replying to her said, “Bhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaoooooooooooooo much love. See you very soon (Brother, lots of love. See you soon!)”

Kohli was rested for the T20I series but will make a return to competitive cricket in the upcoming three-match ODI series, starting January 10, Tuesday, at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Senior players Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and regular skipper Rohit Sharma will also be back for the 50-over game as the Men in Blue begin their preparations for the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup 2023.
