Virat Kohli aims to continue his batting form till World Cup 2023 – SBB Times


It was a flamboyant innings from Indian legend Virat Kohli that India managed to post a mammoth total of 373 against Sri Lanka as he smashed 113 off just 87 balls. After a 67-run win over the Islanders in the first ODI, Kohli said he would like to ‘build’ on the majestic knock as the ODI World Cup 2023 is on the horizon.

T20I number one batsman- In an interview with Suryakumar Yadav for, Virat Kohli reflected on his landmark and shared that it was ‘mental freshness’ that helped him score big. Suryakumar Yadav initiated the conversation saying, “First of all, congrats on 100. You ended 2022 with a hundred, started 2023 with 100, please complete us.”

Responding to the same, Virat Kohli said, “First of all, I would like to wish you a very Happy New Year and congratulate you for the amazing things you are doing. I didn’t start like this in the last two years, I got a hundred this year so hopefully I can build on that as it’s also a World Cup year!

He further added, “We also have a big Test series against Australia, so scoring runs in any match gives you a lot of confidence. I was happy to bat through the innings and give the team an extra 25-30 runs.

Virat Kohli further said that ‘acceptance’ has helped him in maintaining high expectations from fans and himself. He admitted that in the last few years, when things were not going well for him, he started getting frustrated.

Explaining it further, Virat Kohli said, “Living up to expectations is a very intense process. When your cricket is going well, all things are good, but when the form dips, then in my case the frustration sets in. It was because I wanted to play like my fans. But later I realized that I cannot get away from who I am and I have to be true to myself. Even if I am weak or worst player, I cannot deny and have to accept it.

India will look to clinch the series against Lanka Lions in the upcoming ODI at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
