Hardik Pandya’s captaincy is one of the positives for Team India, says Gautam Gambhir
Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has picked Hardik Pandya’s captaincy as one of the positives for India from the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka. He won the three-match series 2–1. Gambhir lauded Pandya’s leadership during an interaction on Star Sports show ‘Follow the Blues’.

“I think there are a lot of positive things in this series. I think Hardik’s captaincy, you probably have to give it to him because he has given everything that was asked of his captaincy. The most important thing is that the young The way the bowlers bowled – Umran Malik. Suryakumar Yadav’s batting, Rahul Tripathi’s cameo. So I believe there have been great signs in this series from this young team.
Umran Malik, with seven sixes, was the highest wicket-taker in the series. Suryakumar Yadav scored a half-century and a match-winning century in the last game as well. Tripathi also provided early momentum to the Indian innings with a 16-ball 35 in Rajkot. He also praised Pandya’s captaincy.

He said, ‘It is very difficult to look beyond the kind of innings Suryakumar Yadav played in Rajkot. But he is an established cricketer. I think Umran Malik was probably very influential. A young bowler who bowled with pace but still the accuracy with which he bowled is a huge positive. The way Hardik captained the team was impressive. There were times when we thought he should have bowled first but then he did exactly the opposite but still the way he handled his team was very professional,” concluded Gautam Gambhir.
