New Delhi. The Delhi Capitals have suffered a big setback in the IPL 2024. Team captain Rishabh Pant has been suspended for one match. He has also been fined Rs 30 lakh for slow over-rate.
Delhi had defeated the Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs in the match played at their home Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 7, and in this match, Pant was found guilty of slow overrate. Delhi had taken 10 minutes more than the scheduled time to bowl the full 20 overs.

Delhi had appealed
To save Pant and the team, Delhi Capitals had appealed against this decision of the referee. But it was of no use. Delhi’s appeal was also sent to the BCCI Ombudsman. The Ombudsman held a hearing and then said that the match referee’s decision is final. The Delhi team is in the race for the playoffs and will have to win both its matches to go to the next round, but Pant’s absence in the next match is very bad news for this team. The Delhi team is currently in fifth place in the points table.
